80 (who?)

It was many and many a year ago,
In a kingdom by the sea,
That a maiden there lived whom you may know
By the name of Annabel Lee;
And this maiden she lived with no other thought
Than to love and be loved by me.

I was a child and she was a child,
In this kingdom by the sea:
But we loved with a love that was more than love -
I and my Annabel Lee;
With a love that the winged seraphs of heaven
Coveted her and me.

And this was the reason that, long ago,
In this kingdom by the sea,
A wind blew out of a cloud, chilling
My beautiful Annabel Lee;
So that her high-born kinsmen came
And bore her away from me,
To shut her up in a sepulchre
In this kingdom by the sea.

The angels, not half so happy in heaven,
Went envying her and me -
Yes! that was the reason (as all men know,
In this kingdom by the sea)
That the wind came out of the cloud one night,
Chilling and killing my Annabel Lee.

But our love it was stronger by far than the love
Of those who were older than we -
Of many far wiser than we -
And neither the angels in heaven above,
Nor the demons down under the sea,
Can ever dissever my soul from the soul
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;

For the moon never beams without bringing me dreams
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
And the stars never rise but I feel the bright eyes
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
And so, all the night-tide, I lie down by the side
Of my darling -my darling -my life and my bride,
In the sepulchre there by the sea -
In her tomb by the sounding sea.
Isn't it fitting that I used Undertaker for the preview image for this poem?

This poem was written by Edgar Allan Poe (1809 1849).

I truly love your artwork. It shows great effort and detail that you put in. Also, it is very impressive and outstanding that you created a masterpiece of art, to show everyone on deviantART what true talent really means. Once again, keep it up. I can see a huge success in your life if you keep this up. =D

If you have any time in your hands. Is there any chance you can take a quick peek at my art gallery. =D

One more thing, your poem has moved me away with your wonderful words. =D

I'll be sure to check it out!!!

I know, right! It's one of my favourites!

"Not flaming or whatever?" I never asked you for your opinion, so don't give it to me.

Yes, I am fully aware of it. Now go away.

lol yes it is.

I had to recite part of it recently for an Edgar Allen Poe play I was in called Nevermore. It was awesome and Steampunk themed. We did Annabel Lee as a puppet show, and we had all of the smallest, youngest cast members as the audience of little kids, and they clapped and cheered at the end of every stanza, even after she was dead. And then at the end. They chased us off stage, and ate us, and one kid dragged one of the puppeteers back on and used her as a puppet and started saying the poem. It was so freaking creepy.

god I miss those guys :iconnojoyplz:
Lol that sounds so cool! It sounds creepy but exciting! I wish I could have seen it!!!

that wasn't even the creepiest part. you should have seen us do the Black Cat......House of Usher was my favorite though, because of this ominous sense of gloom that took over from start to finish. And the soundtrack. Which still gets stuck in my head sometimes at night *sigh*

anyway, love this :)
It's Poe! Of course it's going to be creepy! He was a genius! Usher was a very good story, and I liked the Cat too.
